Kino International is a historic cinema located at Karl-Marx-Allee 33 in Berlin's Mitte district. Opened on November 15, 1963, it served as the premier venue for film premieres in the former East Germany, notably for DEFA studio productions. The building is an exemplar of East German modernist architecture, featuring a distinctive cantilevered design, expansive glass facades, and sculptural reliefs on its side walls. Inside, the cinema boasts a spacious auditorium with seating for 555 guests, designed with advanced acoustics and originally equipped for 70mm film projections. The upper-level foyer, adorned with crystal chandeliers and panoramic windows, offers a glimpse into the cinematic grandeur of the 1960s.
