Dark Eden (2018)
In Fort McMurray, Canada, lies one of the planet’s largest — and last — oil deposits. As if by magic, the "black gold" draws people from all over the world. After all, you can make more money from the oil sands here than anywhere else. But the price is high: the elaborate extraction of oil from the tar sands releases life-threatening substances that poison nature, animals, and people. So anything but a paradise! Of all places, at this forsaken spot director Jasmin Herold finds great love — her future co-director Michael Beamish. But when Michael falls seriously ill, the two are suddenly directly affected. Their own nightmare begins.
